A law firm in Los Angeles, California, is seeking a dynamic Trial Attorney to join its team. The candidate will be responsible for drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, arguing motions, taking depositions, preparing for trials, and actively participating in litigation strategy and settlement negotiations. The position requires strong advocacy skills, active participation in trial proceedings, and the ability to manage litigation support staff.

 

Duties:

  • Draft pleadings including complaints, motions, and oppositions.
  • Review discovery materials and draft meet and confer letters and discovery motions.
  • Argue motion and opposition hearings both remotely and in court.
  • Take and defend percipient and expert depositions.
  • Prepare pre-trial documents and trial materials.
  • Actively participate in trial proceedings.
  • Strategically litigate cases by obtaining key evidence and working up case files.
  • Draft mediation briefs and participate in settlement negotiations.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients.
  • Assist in the management of litigation assistants and paralegals.
  • Attend regular trainings for professional development.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and admission to the California Bar.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
  • Civil litigation or personal injury experience is a plus.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the California State Bar.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Leadership and management skills for overseeing support staff.
