A law firm is seeking an experienced, full-time Associate Patent Attorney to join its electrical engineering team. Duties

  • Handle patent prosecution, including drafting and filing patent applications with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Engage in communication with clients regarding patent strategy and prosecution.
  • Ensure compliance with USPTO rules and regulations.
  • Manage a docket of cases, ensuring deadlines and client budgets are met.
  • Work independently and as part of a team on various patent matters.
  • Review and analyze patent-related documents and prior art.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail while managing a diverse range of tasks.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients on patent portfolio development and protection.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
  • Registered with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload and multiple deadlines.
  • Experience with managing client communications and expectations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Certifications

  • USPTO Registration (required).
