Job Overview
A law firm seeks a dedicated and highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its Employment & Labor practice group. This role is ideal for an attorney with experience in defense litigation, business transactions, or a clerkship at the trial or appellate level. The position offers exposure to complex legal matters, including employment law, commercial litigation, premises liability, and municipal law-related issues. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, along with the ability to handle cases independently and collaboratively.

Duties

  • Represent clients in employment and labor law matters, commercial litigation, and other related practice areas.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and memoranda.
  • Handle discovery processes, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, document requests, and depositions.
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and court proceedings.
  • Provide legal counsel to businesses and individuals on compliance and risk management.
  • Work closely with clients, keeping them informed on case progress and legal strategies.
  • Assist with municipal law-related issues, contracts, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • At least one year of defense litigation experience, OR a clerkship at the trial or appellate level (Federal or State).
  • Familiarity with Federal and State Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Admitted to practice law in South Carolina (preferred).

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in South Carolina or eligibility for admission.
