Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, draft, and prosecute patent applications in the fields of software, AI, IoT, networking, and quantum technologies.
  • Conduct patentability studies, freedom-to-operate analyses, and due diligence investigations for clients.
  • Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and product designers to develop comprehensive IP protection strategies for innovative technologies.
  • Provide strategic counsel on IP portfolio development and management to align with the business objectives of clients.
  • Represent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and in other patent-related legal matters.
  • Advise clients on patent infringement risks and defense strategies.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of user interfaces and product features to ensure compliance with patent laws.
  • Review and analyze technical documents, drawings, and engineering schematics to ensure accurate patent filings.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in relevant technologies to provide forward-thinking legal advice.

Job Requirements:

  • 2+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience in a law firm or industry setting.
  • Experience in working with software-related technologies, AI, IoT, networking, or quantum technologies.
  • Strong understanding of patent law and intellectual property rights.
  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Admission to practice before the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office).
  • Active license to practice law in the state of Georgia (or eligibility for admission).
