Intellectual Property Income Partner

A law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking an Intellectual Property Income Partner with substantial experience in global patent prosecution and opinion work, particularly within the life sciences sector. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of patent counseling, including drafting and negotiating licensing agreements and intellectual property contracts.
• Develop and execute strategic IP portfolios for clients in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
• Advise clients on intellectual property strategies, risk management, and commercialization.
• Represent clients in negotiations, disputes, and litigation involving intellectual property rights.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, utilizing any portable business as a potential advantage.
• Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and support staff on complex IP matters and strategic planning.
• Stay informed about the latest developments in intellectual property law and advancements in life sciences.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in the state of Illinois.
• PhD in biological sciences preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in intellectual property law, with a focus on life sciences and biotechnology.
• Demonstrated expertise in global patent prosecution, patent counseling, and licensing.
• Small amount of portable business is a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctorate (JD) required.
• PhD in biological sciences preferred.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.
