Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Finance and Restructuring Litigation Associate to join a highly regarded Native American litigation team. The associate will work with tribal clients on complex legal matters involving tribal sovereignty, gaming, and self-determination, as well as engage in litigation related to commercial and construction disputes. This position offers the opportunity to practice in an area of significant legal importance and will be based in multiple office locations.

Location: Des Moines, IA

Duties:

  • Represent tribes, tribal entities, and tribal members in legal matters concerning tribal sovereignty, gaming, and self-determination.
  • Manage and litigate complex commercial and construction disputes.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research to support case strategies.
  • Assist in preparing for trials, depositions, hearings, and oral arguments.
  • Maintain a well-organized and efficient caseload while adhering to deadlines.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex case management and trial preparation.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of litigation experience with a focus or strong interest in Federal Indian Law.
  • Experience in litigation and administrative law is essential.
  • Trial, deposition, hearing, and oral argument experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle a wide range of cases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in the jurisdiction where the position is located.
