Job Overview

A law firm is seeking a seasoned Environmental and Energy Attorney with expertise in regulatory counseling and litigation. The successful candidate will engage in challenging and impactful work, collaborating with clients in sectors like manufacturing, transportation, and mining. This role is based in Washington, D.C., with a hybrid work option.

Location

Duties

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs for regulatory and litigation cases.
  • Handle e-discovery processes and factual investigation.
  • Advise on major federal statutes, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, and CERCLA.
  • Participate in rulemaking processes, permitting, and enforcement activities.
  • Manage teams of attorneys in complex regulatory and litigation matters.
  • Provide creative and strategic solutions to complex legal issues.
  • Build relationships with clients and identify business opportunities in manufacturing, transportation, and mining industries.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience in regulatory counseling or litigation focused on environmental or energy law.
  • Experience working with federal regulatory agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency or the U.S. Department of Justice.
  • Strong oral advocacy, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex tasks in a collaborative setting.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar license in the applicable jurisdiction or eligibility to waive in.

Skills

  • Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
  • Expertise in administrative law processes.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex legal issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
