Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a highly skilled and experienced BIS, OFAC, and International Trade Lawyer to join their Denver, CO office. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with U.S. export controls, sanctions, customs regulations, and other international trade-related matters. This role involves providing expert legal counsel, conducting compliance audits, and developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on U.S. export controls (BIS), sanctions (OFAC), customs, tariffs, and international trade regulations.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures related to BIS, OFAC, and international trade.
  • Conduct compliance audits and internal investigations to ensure adherence to relevant regulations.
  • Respond to government enforcement actions and manage licensing and opinion work.
  • Deliver training and guidance to clients and internal teams on regulatory compliance.
  • Draft and review legal documents, filings, and reports related to international trade and sanctions.
  • Manage and oversee investigations related to FCPA, CFIUS, and other national security matters.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in regulations and industry trends.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from a top-tier law school in the U.S.
  • Active member of the DC Bar.
  • Extensive experience with U.S. export controls, sanctions, customs regulations, and international trade matters.
  • Proven experience in counseling, training, licensing, opinion work, filings, compliance audits, internal investigations, and responding to government enforcement actions.
  • Experience with FCPA, CFIUS, and national security-related investigations is preferred.
  • Prior work experience within a large law firm is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
