Job Overview

A highly regarded national law firm is seeking a mid to senior-level associate to join its Energy, Infrastructure, and Project Finance practice. This role offers the opportunity to work with leading clients in the renewable energy sector, providing legal counsel on high-impact transactions involving the development, acquisition, and financing of energy projects. This position is ideal for an attorney looking for substantial responsibility and client interaction within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Represent sponsors, investors, and financing parties in renewable energy project transactions

  • Advise on matters related to project development, operations, and financing

  • Draft and negotiate key legal documents including:

    • EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) Contracts

    • Supply Agreements

    • Offtake Agreements

    • O&M (Operations & Maintenance) Agreements

    • Ancillary documents related to tax equity, M&A, and debt financing

  • Collaborate with clients, internal legal teams, and external advisors

  • Assume responsibility for projects and contribute to strategic decision-making

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant legal experience in the energy industry

  • Previous experience at a large law firm with national recognition or in a comparable in-house counsel role

  • Hands-on experience in project development, M&A, or finance within the renewable energy sector

  • Familiarity with key energy contracts and financing structures

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited top-tier law school

Certifications

  • Must be admitted to and in good standing with the state bar where the candidate resides

Skills

  • Exceptional legal drafting, research, and analytical skills

  • Strong oral and written communication abilities

  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex transactions simultaneously

  • Detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to project management

  • Capable of working independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Confident in direct client and third-party communications
