A law firm seeks a skilled Franchise Of Counsel to join its Franchise & Distribution practice group. This role involves providing sophisticated franchise regulatory and transactional support to a wide-ranging client base, with the flexibility to work remotely or in the Baltimore office.

Duties

  • Draft, review, and manage franchise agreements and franchise disclosure documents.
  • Offer strategic guidance on franchise compliance, regulatory issues, and complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
  • Counsel clients on U.S. and international franchise laws and compliance standards.
  • Work with a diverse portfolio of clients, from new franchisors and private equity firms to well-established franchise brands.
  • Collaborate with a team of legal professionals to deliver comprehensive and strategic client solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in transactional franchise law and regulatory compliance.
  • Active State Bar admission in Maryland or eligibility for admission by waiver.
  • Demonstrated experience in franchise documentation and regulatory advisory.
  • Strong analytical skills with a business-minded approach to legal challenges.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Maryland State Bar admission or eligibility for admission by waiver.

Skills

  • Proficiency in drafting franchise agreements and franchise disclosure documents.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive projects efficiently.
