Job Overview:
A leading law firm is currently seeking an experienced Renewable Energy Project Development & Finance Associate to join its growing corporate team. This position provides an opportunity to work on innovative renewable energy projects across a broad geographical range, including wind, solar, geothermal, hydrogen, and battery storage. Duties:

  • Advise clients on renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, geothermal, hydrogen, and battery storage.
  • Draft and negotiate power purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements, hedge contracts, equipment supply contracts, and construction contracts.
  • Assist clients in the development, financing, purchasing, selling, and management of renewable energy projects.
  • Manage legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate finance transactions in the renewable energy sector.
  • Provide counsel on regulatory, financial, and operational matters impacting renewable energy transactions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through direct interaction and collaboration.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys and participate in team discussions on complex legal issues related to renewable energy.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of law firm experience in project development, finance, mergers & acquisitions, or commercial contracts.
  • Prior experience in the renewable energy industry is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with power purchase agreements, construction contracts, asset/company sale agreements, and similar legal agreements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with an ability to distill complex legal concepts into clear advice.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in the relevant jurisdiction(s) or eligibility for admission.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in applicable state(s) or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.

Skills:

  • Expertise in project development, finance, and renewable energy-related transactions.
  • Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Client-focused with the ability to handle complex legal matters independently.
