A well-established law firm in Annapolis is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to support the firm’s partners in Estate Planning and Administration. This role demands a detail-oriented and proactive professional capable of working independently, providing excellent client service, and handling complex legal matters in estate planning. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in the field, with a strong focus on drafting and advising on wills, trusts, and asset distribution.

Job Duties

  • Represent clients by providing expert legal guidance on estate planning matters, including the drafting of wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
  • Advise on tax implications related to various estate planning strategies.
  • Prepare and format initial drafts of estate administration filings such as petitions, inventories, accountings, and fiduciary reports.
  • Guide clients on asset distribution processes after death.
  • Assist in the identification, collection, and valuation of estate assets.
  • Analyze issues and propose effective solutions, ensuring the highest quality of final work.
  • Maintain detailed client records and files, ensuring organization and confidentiality.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze data, and prepare reports summarizing findings.
  • Communicate directly with clients for intake, information gathering, and ongoing administration needs.
  • Draft engagement letters and assist with client invoicing and expense recovery.
  • Provide legal research, drafting, and reviewing support as required.
  • Complete special projects in a timely and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the Maryland Bar.
  • 2-3 years of experience in estate planning and Administration.
  • Strong legal research and investigative abilities.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Exceptional client service skills with the ability to independently lead client meetings.
