A law firm is seeking a Legal Defense Associate Attorney for their Encino, CA, location.

Job Overview:

The Legal Defense Associate Attorney will primarily advocate for law enforcement and other public safety employee clients in challenging legal environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal research and writing skills and be adept at litigating cases effectively in court.

Duties:

• Advocate for law enforcement and public safety employee clients in legal proceedings.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support cases.
• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and memoranda.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Negotiate settlements and plea agreements when appropriate.
• Prepared for and represented clients in court hearings and trials.
• Assist senior attorneys in case strategy development and implementation.
• Handle administrative tasks related to case management.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar.
• Minimum of 3+ years of legal experience.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency in legal drafting and administrative tasks.
• Knowledge of LexisNexis or similar legal research platforms.
• Ability to prosecute cases effectively in court.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Willingness and ability to travel.
• Previous criminal law experience is a plus.
