A law firm in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Litigation Attorney with extensive experience in employment litigation. The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in California and have a strong background in managing complex litigation matters, including trial experience. This role requires significant client interaction and involves a wide range of responsibilities, from conducting witness interviews to drafting dispositive motions and managing case strategy. Experience in the public sector is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex employment litigation cases, including wage and hour, PAGA, and FLSA matters.
  • Conduct substantive witness interviews to gather evidence and support case strategy.
  • Oversee all aspects of discovery, including document management and electronic discovery.
  • Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts.
  • Regularly appear in court to argue motions and defend against claims.
  • Draft and file dispositive motions, including demurrers, anti-SLAPP motions, motions for judgment, and motions for summary judgment.
  • Provide strategic case management, ensuring effective progress and resolution of cases.
  • Engage in mediation and other dispute resolution processes as needed.
  • Maintain extensive client contact, providing updates and legal advice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure efficient case handling.
  • Leverage prior employment litigation experience to address complex legal issues and devise effective solutions.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of California.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in employment litigation, including wage and hour, PAGA, and FLSA matters.
  • Prior experience as 1st or 2nd chair in trials, mediations, or other dispute resolution processes.
  • Proven ability to manage discovery, conduct depositions, and draft dispositive motions.
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus.
  • Strong client communication and case management skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California.

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of employment law and litigation processes.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong oral advocacy skills, with experience in courtroom appearances and motion practice.
  • Effective case management abilities and attention to detail.
