A law firm seeks a skilled Employment & Labor Attorney with a minimum of four years of experience to join its San Diego office. The ideal candidate will have broad expertise in employment law, including both counseling and litigation. The role involves advising clients on employment policies, regulatory compliance, and employment agreements, as well as handling transactional matters. The firm is looking for someone with strong academic credentials, excellent communication skills, and a passion for mentoring junior associates. This position offers the opportunity to grow within the practice while supporting a collaborative, dynamic team environment.

Duties

  • Employment Counseling

    • Advise clients on various employment matters, including policies, practices, and regulatory compliance.
    • Guide employment and separation agreements, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and best practices.
  • Litigation and Dispute Resolution

    • Represent clients in employment-related legal disputes, including wrongful termination, discrimination, wage and hour claims, and other employment litigation.
    • Manage case preparation, discovery, motions, depositions, and other litigation tasks.
  • Transactional Work

    • Assist clients with employment-related aspects of business transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings.
    • Draft and review employment agreements, non-compete clauses, confidentiality agreements, and other relevant contracts.
  • Mentorship and Team Support

    • Mentor and train junior associates and guide on complex employment matters.
    • Collaborate with colleagues across various legal disciplines to ensure integrated support for clients.
  • Client Relationship Management

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring high-quality service and responsiveness to client needs.
    • Participate in client meetings, providing expert legal advice and insights on employment law matters.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in employment and labor law, with a strong foundation in both counseling and litigation.
  • Experience advising clients on statutory and regulatory compliance, employment policies, and employment agreements.
  • Proven track record in handling employment litigation, including managing cases from inception to resolution.
  • Ability to draft and review complex employment-related contracts and agreements.
  • Strong communication and legal writing skills, with the ability to present complex legal concepts clearly to clients and colleagues.
  • Current admission to the California Bar.
  • Strong work ethic and initiative, with a desire to grow professionally and contribute to the firm’s success.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the California Bar.
