Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its civil litigation team. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in civil litigation, with a demonstrated ability to manage cases through all phases, including trial. Trial experience is a plus. This position offers the opportunity to work in a busy, diverse litigation practice, taking on primary responsibility for certain matters while providing support to senior attorneys on others. Duties:

  • Manage civil litigation matters from start to finish, including research, drafting, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
  • Take primary responsibility for specific cases and provide support to senior attorneys on larger or more complex matters.
  • Represent clients in court, including handling hearings, depositions, and trials (trial experience is preferred).
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates and strategic counsel.
  • Participate in case strategy development, including assessment of legal risks and opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively within the litigation team to ensure timely and effective case management.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in civil litigation, with a proven track record of handling cases from inception through trial.
  • Trial experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Oregon Bar membership (or eligibility to become admitted in Oregon).
  • Client-focused with a commitment to delivering high-quality legal service.
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Oregon State Bar is required.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation experience, particularly in civil cases.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle depositions, court appearances, and settlement negotiations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team.
