A law firm seeks an experienced Associate/Of Counsel Attorney to join its litigation team in Lenexa, KS. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business and real estate litigation, providing legal support by researching cases, drafting documents, advising clients, and assisting in trial preparation. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with senior attorneys to develop and implement legal strategies while maintaining a focus on exceptional client service and timely execution.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analyze complex legal issues related to business and real estate litigation.
  • Draft legal documents including briefs, contracts, and other necessary filings.
  • Advise and maintain regular communication with clients on the status of their cases.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients, working to achieve favorable resolutions.
  • Prepare for and attend trials, providing support to senior attorneys during litigation.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to strategize legal strategies for complex cases.
  • Ensure compliance with all ethical requirements as outlined by the Rules of Professional Conduct in Kansas and Missouri.
  • Maintain membership in the Kansas and Missouri State Bar Associations and complete required Continuing Legal Education (CLE) annually.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri.
  • Strong background in litigation, specifically business and real estate law.
  • Excellent legal research, analysis, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to advise clients effectively and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Proficiency in negotiating settlements and handling trial preparation.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases.
  • Must adhere to ethical and professional standards as set forth by state bar associations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Kansas and Missouri State Bar Associations.
  • Completion of annual Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements.

Skills:

  • Legal research and analysis.
  • Strong drafting skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
