The ideal candidate will have a strong background in prosecuting and/or defending construction claims, contract drafting and negotiation, and risk evaluation within the construction industry. Candidates with experience in insurance, commercial law, products liability, or general litigation will also be considered, provided they have a genuine interest in focusing on legal practice in the construction sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle litigation and dispute resolution related to construction claims, representing clients in various forums such as mediation, arbitration, and court proceedings.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, subcontracts, and related agreements.
  • Provide legal counsel on construction-related matters, including risk assessment, project management, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on construction law issues and prepare memoranda and opinions.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop effective legal strategies and solutions.
  • Assist senior attorneys in complex construction projects and transactions.
  • Participate in client meetings, consultations, and negotiations, effectively communicating legal advice and strategies.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar or eligibility for admission by motion.
  • 2+ years of experience in construction law, with a focus on claims, contracts, and risk assessment.
  • Experience in insurance, commercial litigation, products liability, or related fields is advantageous.
  • Superior academic credentials from a top-tier law school.
