Job Overview:

A reputable law firm is seeking a Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate with 4-6 years of experience to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of data privacy laws and cybersecurity practices, including expertise in HIPAA, breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management. Candidates should have experience drafting key legal documents, including license agreements, SaaS agreements, privacy policies, and data processing terms. A CIPP/US certification is required, and admission to the Texas bar is necessary. 

Location:

  • Dallas, TX

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate license agreements, SaaS agreements, privacy policies, and data processing terms.
  • Provide compliance counseling on data privacy and cybersecurity issues.
  • Advise on breach response and risk management strategies.
  • Work with clients to navigate federal and state health privacy and data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, GLBA, FCRA, CFBA, BIPA).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients on privacy-related legal matters.
  • Support business litigation and litigation-related tasks in the data privacy and cybersecurity space.

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, and related fields.
  • Expertise in HIPAA, breach response, compliance counseling, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with data protection laws such as GDPR, CCPA, GLBA, FCRA, CFBA, and BIPA.
  • Strong drafting and negotiating skills in the context of SaaS, license agreements, and privacy terms.
  • Admission to the Texas bar required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • CIPP/US Certification (required).

  • Strong knowledge of data privacy and cybersecurity regulations.
