Job Overview:
A well-established Chicago-based law firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of litigation experience to join its growing practice. This position will involve handling a variety of medical negligence, corporate litigation matters, and potentially intellectual property disputes and personal injury cases. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently in a collaborative team environment. Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Manage an existing caseload and handle cases from inception to trial.

  • Serve as First or Second Chair in medical negligence trials.

  • Attend, take, and defend depositions of various witnesses (213(f)(1), (f)(2), and (f)(3)).

  • Communicate with clients at all stages of litigation.

  • Draft and review legal documents, including complaints, motions, responses, and replies.

  • Issue and answer written discovery requests.

  • Attend court appearances, mediations, and hearings.

  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys on legal strategy and professional development.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to practice in the State of Illinois.

  • 4-12 years of litigation experience, preferably in a law firm setting.

  • Trial experience, including First or Second Chair roles.

  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience taking and defending depositions.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in Illinois.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and trial preparation skills.

  • Excellent writing and research capabilities.

  • Ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines.
