Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Alexandria, VA office serving the DC Metro area. This position offers a great opportunity for candidates with 3-7 years of litigation experience who are eager to take a lead role in case handling. The ideal candidate will have superior legal writing and research skills and a strong commitment to provide exceptional client service. Candidates barred in DC and/or Maryland are preferred.

Duties:

• Handle litigation cases from inception through trial, including first-chair responsibilities.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Manage discovery processes, including depositions and interrogatories.
• Represent clients in state and federal courts in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
• Engage in settlement negotiations and manage all aspects of pre-trial case preparation.
• Work closely with clients to provide legal counsel and case updates.

Requirements:

• 3-7 years of litigation experience.
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage cases independently and provide effective client communication.
• Experience in handling depositions, motions practice, and trials.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.

Certifications:

• Admission to the DC and/or Maryland State Bar preferred (or the ability to obtain admission).
