A law firm seeks an experienced and highly motivated Senior Litigation Attorney to join its team in Mission Viejo, CA. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to handle a diverse caseload in business and construction litigation. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in drafting legal documents, conducting mediation and arbitrations, and mentoring junior attorneys. Duties:

  • Draft and prepare legal documents such as motions, pleadings, notices, and discovery requests/responses.
  • Manage a diverse caseload and assign work to junior attorneys and paralegals.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to associate attorneys and support staff, fostering their professional growth.
  • Advise clients on legal matters and assist in developing strategies for case resolution.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, arguing motions and other legal matters.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal statutes and applicable laws.
  • Prepare for and attend trials, mediations, and arbitrations, advocating for clients in these proceedings.
  • Resolve client conflicts and provide proactive solutions to legal challenges.
  • Ensure the successful completion of projects and case milestones within deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in California.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a senior attorney, with a minimum of 7-10 years since passing the bar.
  • Strong experience in business and construction litigation, including motion and pleading drafting, as well as mediations and arbitrations.
  • Proven ability to manage a large caseload and work independently.
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide junior attorneys and staff.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
  • Highly organized with strong time-management skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California State Bar is required.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing, drafting, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong advocacy skills, particularly in motions, pleadings, and court appearances.
  • Ability to manage complex litigation cases from start to finish.
