Job Overview:

A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload, provide strategic legal counsel, and represent clients in various immigration matters. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and a solid understanding of immigration law.

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a substantial workload of immigration cases efficiently.
  • Conduct intakes and visits with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to address changes in immigration law.
  • Provide strategic consultations to potential clients and develop appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Offer legal analysis to clients to identify potential case benefits.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Proven record of advancing legal cases and managing a caseload effectively.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, EOIR proceedings, detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS matters.
  • Preferably bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Proficiency in Case Management Software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in the state of California.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
