Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking a talented Mid-Level Associate to join its Employee Benefits practice. This is a flexible position with options for affiliation in various office locations across the United States, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, Newark, New York, Pittsburgh, Princeton, or Washington, DC. The successful candidate will have at least three years of experience in employee benefits law and ERISA, with a focus on retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and M&A-related employee benefits matters. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-impact matters within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Provide expert legal counsel on employee benefits matters, including retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare benefits, and fringe benefits.
  • Advise clients on employee benefits issues in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.
  • Break down complex legal issues into clear, actionable advice for clients.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and draft memos, reports, and legal documents.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients while delivering exceptional service and legal solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex legal matters and contribute to team success.
  • Assist in presentations and provide guidance on employee benefits issues in client meetings.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in employee benefits law, including ERISA.
  • Experience with retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and M&A-related benefits issues.
  • Strong academic background with excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to distill complex legal matters into understandable and actionable advice.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the state

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of ERISA and employee benefits law.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear and actionable advice.
  • Strong problem-solving and client relationship management abilities.
  • Team player with a proactive, collaborative work style.
