The Immigration Attorney will focus on EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) cases and represent individuals in removal proceedings. The role will involve a variety of legal responsibilities, including client interactions, case management, and strategic development for immigration cases.

Duties:

  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage and oversee a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring timely and efficient case progress.
  • Conduct intakes and visits with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and revise immigration applications and petitions as needed.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding immigration law updates and case developments.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients and develop strategies for their cases.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings or USCIS testimony.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration matters.
  • Meet with potential clients for consultations and develop appropriate immigration strategies.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in immigration law, particularly in EOIR proceedings.
  • Strong case management skills with the ability to juggle multiple cases.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, detained cases, citizenship applications, and other USCIS filings.
  • Knowledge and experience with immigration case management software is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to move legal cases forward effectively and manage a busy caseload.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction.

Certifications:

  • Active State Bar membership.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and legal research abilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to clients in an understandable manner.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
