Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced Wage & Hour Associate Attorney to join its growing team in Denver. This position is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in wage and hour litigation, particularly in handling class and collective action claims under state and federal wage laws. The role offers immediate client-facing responsibilities, with the opportunity to grow within the firm and take on leadership roles in significant cases. The firm is open to considering non-partner-track candidates for this position.

Duties:

  • Manage and litigate wage and hour class and collective action claims under the Colorado Wage Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Interpret and apply regulations, rules, and guidance from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) and U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Division.
  • Draft, review, and respond to pleadings, discovery requests, and motions, including motions to decertify a conditional class.
  • Take and defend depositions in complex wage and hour matters.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients on case strategy, offering counsel on compliance and litigation.
  • Demonstrate exceptional legal writing and analysis in the preparation of motions, briefs, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in wage and hour litigation, particularly with class and collective actions.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and applying wage and hour regulations under both state and federal laws.
  • Strong experience with drafting and responding to pleadings and discovery, arguing motions, and handling depositions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage significant caseloads and provide strategic legal advice to clients.
  • Excellent academic credentials, with a proven ability to write, persuasively, and with strong analytical insights.
  • Admission to the Colorado Bar or eligibility to waive in.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Colorado Bar or eligibility to waive into the state bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in wage and hour law, including familiarity with the Colorado Wage Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Strong legal writing and research abilities, particularly in drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
