Biotechnology Patent Agent

A law firm seeks a skilled Biotechnology Patent Agent with a strong background in patent counseling, drafting, and prosecution. The role offers the opportunity to work in San Diego, with the potential for alternate locations depending on business needs and experience.

Duties:

• Prepare and prosecute domestic and international patent applications related to biotechnology and related fields.
• Provide strategic advice and guidance on intellectual property matters.
• Draft patent opinions and work collaboratively with legal teams on complex patent cases.
• Assist in managing and overseeing clients' intellectual property portfolios.
• Engage with clients to provide innovative solutions for their patent and intellectual property needs.

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of experience in patent preparation, prosecution, and counseling, particularly in biotechnology or similar industries.
• Proven experience in both domestic and international patent filings.
• Prior experience drafting patent opinions is strongly preferred.

Education:

• Ph.D. in a biological science-related field such as Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Genetics.

Certifications:

• Must be registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

• Strong legal research and writing abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proven ability to manage complex patent portfolios.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional academic credentials and law firm experience are preferred.
