A law firm seeks a motivated and skilled Associate Litigation Attorney to join its offices in Tarrytown, NY, or Westchester County, NY. This full-time, hybrid role is ideal for an attorney with a background in general liability or labor and employment law. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging legal matters, representing clients throughout all phases of litigation, from initial filings to expert discovery. The firm fosters a collaborative and supportive environment, providing mentorship from experienced attorneys and a chance to grow in various areas of law.

Duties

  • Represent clients in litigation cases, managing all stages from case initiation to expert discovery, with a focus on professional liability and labor and employment matters.
  • Attend and participate in court hearings, depositions, case management conferences, and other legal proceedings.
  • Perform thorough legal research and manage discovery investigations.
  • Draft and review legal documents including discovery requests and responses, motions, pleadings, case evaluations, settlement agreements, affidavits, and legal memoranda.
  • Prepare detailed litigation update reports and summaries of depositions and discovery responses.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel to resolve disputes effectively.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, providing legal analysis, status reports, and advice throughout litigation.

Requirements

  • Active membership in the New York Bar.
  • Experience drafting discovery documents, leading depositions, and arguing motions in court.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with LexisNexis legal research software.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Must be licensed to practice in New York.
