A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level IP Patent Prosecution Attorney to join its growing Intellectual Property Practice Group. This position is ideal for an attorney with at least three years of experience in patent prosecution, including patent search, analysis, application drafting and filing, and portfolio management. The role involves handling a diverse range of patents across industries, with a focus on mechanical, biomedical, and medical device technologies. While litigation experience is a plus, it is not a requirement for this role.

Duties:

  • Manage patent prosecution for a variety of industries
  • Conduct patent searches and provide in-depth analysis
  • Draft and file patent applications with the USPTO
  • Oversee patent portfolio management
  • Provide strategic intellectual property counseling to clients
  • Optional involvement in patent-related litigation

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in patent prosecution
  • Knowledge of patent law and prosecution procedures
  • Experience with mechanical, biomedical, or medical device technologies (preferred)
  • Litigation experience (a plus, but not required)
  • Strong client communication and relationship-building skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical science, or a related technical field (preferred)

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar
  • USPTO registration (required)
