A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join their team in providing comprehensive civil litigation and insurance defense services. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, analytical thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment. As an Associate Attorney, you will play a crucial role in defending clients, offering legal counsel, and managing various aspects of casework from start to finish.

Duties:

  • Conduct in-depth legal analysis and research to develop and present defense strategies.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests, depositions, motions, and briefs supporting client defense.
  • Manage and execute depositions as needed, engaging with various case parties.
  • Provide timely, professional legal advice and updates to clients, claims adjusters, and representatives.
  • Coordinate with clients' teams, opposing counsel, and witnesses, ensuring smooth case progression.
  • Appear in court as needed, representing clients in hearings and trials.
  • Prepare and present witnesses and evidence in hearings, arbitrations, and other dispute resolutions.
  • Accurately track and log billable hours to meet firm and client billing standards (average of 175 hours/month).
  • Maintain consistent communication with internal teams, courts, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the California and/or Nevada State Bar.
  • Strong analytical skills with an acute attention to detail.
  • Excellent legal writing, verbal communication, and client management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to appear in court and attend in-person and virtual hearings.
  • Flexibility for occasional travel between offices and courtrooms.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school is required.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California and/or Nevada State Bar is required.

Skills:

  • Expertise in legal writing and research.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal technology tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced legal environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a caseload with varying priorities.
