A law firm in Southfield, MI is seeking a White Collar and Government Investigations Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory compliance and enforcement. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the Committee on Foreign Investments (CFIUS), United States export controls, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred. The candidate should have a proven track record of supporting active teams in these areas and must be admitted and actively Barred in the state.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in matters related to international trade regulatory compliance, focusing on CFIUS, ITAR, and U.S. export controls.
  • Provide legal advice and strategic recommendations on compliance with export controls and other relevant regulations.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory filings and applications, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and analyses of compliance issues, offering practical solutions and guidance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, including compliance policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and resolve potential issues.
  • Respond to and manage inquiries and investigations from government agencies regarding international trade matters.
  • Stay updated on developments in international trade regulations and advise clients on potential impacts.
  • Participate in team discussions and contribute to the development of strategies for managing regulatory compliance and enforcement.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters.
  • Proven experience with CFIUS, ITAR, and U.S. export controls.
  • General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred.
  • Experience supporting active teams in complex regulatory environments.
  • Must be admitted and actively Barred in the state of Michigan.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Michigan State Bar and active Bar status.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, including CFIUS, ITAR, and U.S. export controls.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities.
