Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an associate to join its Native American litigation team. The position offers the opportunity to represent tribes, tribal entities, and tribal members in complex matters involving tribal sovereignty, gaming, and self-determination. Additionally, the associate will be involved in litigating commercial and construction disputes. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates passionate about Federal Indian Law and litigation. The position is available in multiple office locations.

Location: Indianapolis, IN 

Duties:

  • Represent clients in cases involving tribal sovereignty, gaming, and self-determination.
  • Handle complex commercial and construction litigation matters.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and briefs.
  • Conduct legal research and provide case strategy recommendations.
  • Participate in trial preparation, depositions, hearings, and oral arguments.
  • Manage cases independently while working collaboratively with colleagues and clients.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in litigation, with an emphasis on Federal Indian Law and administrative law.
  • Demonstrated interest in Native American law.
  • Experience in trial preparation, depositions, hearings, and oral arguments is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of the jurisdiction where the position is based.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to draft legal documents clearly and concisely.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to handle complex cases.
