Job Overview:
A highly regarded law firm is seeking a junior or midlevel associate with 1-5 years of experience in labor and employment law to join its Miami office. The ideal candidate will have experience in employment law, including single and multi-plaintiff litigation in federal and state court, arbitration, wage and hour matters, discrimination, and class-action lawsuits. The associate will be involved in all stages of litigation, including drafting motions and handling discovery, particularly electronic discovery (ESI).

Location:
Miami, FL

Duties:

  • Represent clients in employment-related litigation, including wage and hour disputes, discrimination claims, and class-action lawsuits in federal and state courts.
  • Draft motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
  • Handle electronic discovery (ESI) in employment-related matters.
  • Manage and assist in case strategy, development, and execution.
  • Attend hearings, depositions, and arbitrations as needed.
  • Provide legal counsel and advice to clients on labor and employment law matters.
  • Stay current on developments in labor and employment law to provide accurate, timely advice.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in labor and employment law, preferably at a large law firm.
  • Experience in handling wage and hour issues, discrimination claims, and class-action lawsuits.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work independently.
  • Experience with federal and state court litigation, including arbitration.
  • Familiarity with handling electronic discovery (ESI).
  • Excellent verbal communication and client management skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Florida State Bar (or eligibility to become licensed in Florida).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in employment law, including class actions, wage and hour matters, and discrimination claims.
  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Experience with ESI discovery processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
