Job Title: Environmental, Energy, Mining, and Transportation Attorney

Job Location: Washington, D.C.

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in Washington, D.C. is seeking an experienced Attorney to join their Environmental, Energy, Mining, and Transportation Division. This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in regulatory counseling or litigation with an energy or environmental focus. Ideal candidates will have significant experience working with federal agencies and handling complex legal matters related to energy, environmental, and regulatory issues.

Duties:

  • Lead regulatory and litigation matters involving energy and environmental law
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs for complex cases
  • Handle e-discovery processes and conduct factual investigations
  • Provide expert advice on federal statutes such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, CERCLA, and other environmental laws
  • Advise on rulemaking, permitting, and enforcement processes
  • Manage teams of attorneys on regulatory and litigated matters
  • Identify and resolve complex legal issues using creative, strategic, and analytical thinking
  • Build relationships with clients in the manufacturing, transportation, or mining sectors
  • Identify new business opportunities and trends in the industries served

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in regulatory counseling or litigation focused on environmental or energy law
  • Experience working with federal agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or the U.S. Department of Justice is a plus
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills
  • Experience with administrative law and compliance obligations
  • Ability to manage teams effectively and handle complex legal issues

Education:

  • A J.D. from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Bar license in the applicable jurisdiction or the ability to waive in

Skills:

  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities
  • Proficiency in managing complex litigation and regulatory matters
  • Ability to navigate and apply energy and environmental laws
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
