A law firm in Walnut Creek, CA, is seeking a skilled General Liability Associate Attorney to join its team. The role involves managing a litigation caseload independently, handling local and national accounts throughout California, and supporting trial preparation and court filings.

Job Duties:

  • Handle local and national accounts throughout the state of California.
  • Independently manage a litigation caseload involving general liability matters.
  • Conduct depositions of clients, witnesses, and experts.
  • Prepare witnesses for deposition and trial testimony.
  • Review and analyze discovery requests and documents.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery responses and pleadings.
  • Prepare court filings and ensure timely service to counsel, including experience with e-filing.
  • Assist in trial preparation and provide trial support as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate time records and ensure billing compliance.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in the state of California.
  • 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following practice areas: product liability, transportation, aviation, or premises liability.
  • Proven experience with motion practice and conducting depositions.
  • Experience taking lead in plaintiff and expert depositions is preferred.
  • Superior research and writing skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and case management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus.
