A law firm seeks a motivated and skilled Securities Litigation Associate to join its team in New York City, NY. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on high-profile securities cases, including class actions, shareholder derivative suits, and regulatory matters, for major clients across various industries. Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of experience in securities litigation, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic legal environment.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in securities class actions, shareholder derivative lawsuits, and related commercial disputes at both trial and appellate levels.
  • Advise and support clients in securities-related regulatory investigations, ensuring effective defense and minimizing enforcement actions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on government investigations and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and prepare comprehensive written materials for litigation.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple complex cases, ensuring timely and efficient progress.
  • Participate in client meetings, maintaining strong client relationships and delivering strategic legal guidance.
  • Stay informed about developments in securities laws and regulations to provide clients with up-to-date counsel.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in securities litigation or closely related fields.
  • Experience handling securities-related disputes, including class actions, derivative suits, and government investigations.
  • Admission to the State Bar of New York (or eligibility to practice in New York).
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to handle complex litigation in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and prioritize competing demands effectively.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York (or eligibility to become licensed in New York).

Skills:

  • Expertise in securities law and regulatory matters.
  • Advanced legal research and writing proficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client-facing communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple litigation matters simultaneously.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life insurance and disability benefits (short-term and long-term).
  • Mental health and wellness support.
  • Flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA).
  • 401(k) plan with the firm contribution.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO), including flexible time off and paid holidays.
  • Parental leave benefits.
  • Ongoing professional development, training, and mentorship opportunities.

Substantial billable hours is the primary way to get the big bucks and partnership consideration at this large New York firm. With West Coast roots, but not attitude, these New York lawyers work hard. Competitive and fast-paced, this firm excels across practice areas, but is doing some particularly interesting VC work. Although a type A environment to be sure, the atmosphere is still friendly, albeit without a lot of casual partner/associate interaction. Partner/associate relationships are strong in professional terms, however, with excellent marks for training and a fairly regimented associate development program. Now competing to be one of New York's finest, this firm is increasingly selective in associate hiring.

Your information will not be forwarded to any employers at this time. A recruiter will contact you with more information once our internal review of your resume is completed.
