A well-established litigation firm located in Kansas, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its team. Specializing in providing legal counsel to insurers and their insureds, the firm offers an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to develop their career as a litigator in insurance and personal injury law. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to grow their expertise in Kansas and Missouri law while handling a variety of legal actions in district and federal courts.

Location:

  • Overland Park, KS

Duties:

  • Draft and respond to motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Maintain regular client contact regarding case development and updates.
  • Perform legal research to support litigation efforts.
  • Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
  • Attend court hearings, pre-trial conferences, and trials.
  • Manage a caseload and ensure deadlines are met efficiently.
  • Participate in mediations and pre-trial conferences as needed.

Requirements:

  • Licensure in Kansas (Missouri licensure is preferred but not required).
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a full caseload.
  • Prior experience in litigation.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Kansas Bar membership (Missouri Bar membership is a plus).

Skills:

  • Legal research and writing.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative approach with clients and colleagues.
