A law firm in Tampa, FL is seeking a Litigation Attorney (non-trial). The Litigation Attorney will prepare cases for trial and provide support as second or third chair during trials. Motion practice and discovery will be key responsibilities, with a focus on improving client cases. Strong knowledge of Florida law and civil procedure, excellent legal research skills, and exceptional communication abilities are essential for success in this role.

 

Duties:

  • Prepare cases for trial and provide support as second or third chair during trials.
  • Emphasize motion practice and discovery.
  • Collaborate with clients and the legal team to improve case strategies.
  • Conduct legal research and apply Florida case law, statutes, and the Florida Evidence Code.
  • Draft and review pleadings.
  • Coordinate with paralegals, support staff, and other attorneys.
  • Manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and depose opposing expert witnesses.
  • Understand Proposals for Settlements, Offers for Judgments, etc.
  • Utilize medical knowledge relevant to personal injury litigation.

 

Requirements:

  • Member of the Florida Bar in good standing.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in civil litigation.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Florida law and civil procedure.
  • Excellent legal research skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
