A law firm seeks an attorney with 2-4 years of experience in finance and lending law for its Houston office. This position provides a unique opportunity to work within a dynamic team handling sophisticated transactions in commercial real estate, syndicated loans, and distressed real estate matters. The ideal candidate will have experience working with lenders in a variety of finance and lending contexts, as well as strong ties to the Houston community.

Duties:

  • Represent lenders in the planning, negotiation, documentation, and workout of loan transactions
  • Handle a variety of loan types, including syndicated credit facilities, asset-based loans, equipment loans, working capital loans, participated credits, and loan sales
  • Assist with financing for commercial real estate projects, including acquisitions, development, and construction of multifamily, office, retail, industrial, and mixed-use properties
  • Manage distressed real estate transactions
  • Advise clients on legal and financial aspects of their projects and transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards
  • Draft and review loan documentation, including term sheets, credit agreements, and workout agreements
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to resolve complex legal issues related to finance and lending transactions

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in finance and lending law, ideally in a law firm environment
  • Familiarity with syndicated loans, asset-based loans, and commercial real estate financing
  • Strong background in secured transactions and loan workouts
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Established connections or ties to the Houston community
  • Strong academic background

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in Texas or eligibility for admission to the Texas bar

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of finance and lending laws, particularly in the context of commercial real estate
  • Strong legal writing and analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work effectively with clients and colleagues
