Insurance Defense Attorney

A law firm in New York City, NY is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney with 5+ years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance defense, and experience with New York Labor Law and construction accident cases is a plus. The attorney will handle complex insurance defense matters, including personal injury, construction, and general liability cases.

Job Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in insurance defense litigation, including personal injury, construction accidents, and general liability cases.
• Manage all phases of litigation from case initiation through trial, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and court appearances.
• Defend clients in cases involving New York Labor Law violations, particularly about construction accidents and workplace injuries.
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal briefs.
• Prepare for and represent clients in settlement negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Collaborate with insurance companies, adjusters, and clients to develop and execute defense strategies that protect client interests.
• Stay current on changes in New York Labor Law and other relevant laws to provide accurate and effective representation.
• Provide ongoing legal counsel and advice to clients, keeping them informed of case progress and potential risks.
• Work closely with expert witnesses, medical professionals, and investigators to gather and analyze evidence in support of defense strategies.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in insurance defense litigation.
• Experience handling cases involving New York Labor Law and construction accidents is highly preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft compelling legal documents and argue cases effectively in court.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support defense strategies.
• Strong negotiation skills to achieve favorable settlements and resolutions for clients.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative legal team.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar is required.

Certifications (Preferred):

• Certification or coursework in insurance defense or New York Labor Law is beneficial but not required.
