A law firm in Newark, OH, is seeking a dedicated and experienced General Practice Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive legal services, including research, drafting, and client representation, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. This role requires strong legal acumen, exceptional client management skills, and a proactive approach to business development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research cases and legal issues to support client cases and prepare documentation according to established procedures.
  • Conduct legal research by preparing legal memoranda and necessary pleadings for state and federal litigation matters.
  • Draft pleadings, correspondence, and review legal documents as needed.
  • Provide counsel and legal services to new and existing clients, evaluate their needs, and offer education through layman's language.
  • Prepare proposals for clients through written communication and represent clients in a professional and expedient manner.
  • Apply knowledge of legal procedures and previous cases to effectively counsel clients.
  • Develop new clients and maintain continuous interaction with existing clients.
  • Contact customers, prospects, and major accounts via telephone or travel as necessary.
  • Communicate with opposing attorneys to expedite cases to a close.
  • Appear at hearings and trials as required.
  • Comply with all court, state bar, and interoffice rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Meet continuing legal education requirements.
  • Delegate tasks as appropriate to support staff.
  • Meet billing requirements assigned by partners or their designates.
  • Ensure all client information and documents are accurately uploaded to Box, Clio, and Clio Grow.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents with courts, public, and private offices.
  • Connect with local businesses, bar associations, and community groups.
  • Attend meetings with White Law Office partners and staff as required.
  • Perform client intakes, identify relevant issues, and communicate with the case manager or attorney in charge.
  • Develop and manage client base through prospecting, setting appointments, and servicing clients via telephone and personal contact.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate and Notary Public.
  • Member of the Ohio State Bar.
  • Title License (preferred but not required).
  • 3-5 years of experience as an attorney, including team leadership and network building.
  • Transferable active book of business.
  • Strong experience in real property, life planning, business organization, and advising, with a background in civil litigation being advantageous.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Clio, Clio Grow, LexisNexis, Zoom, and Box.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
