Job Overview

A law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Attorney to join its global Risk team. This role involves drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, advising on client contractual requirements, and collaborating across various departments. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to make risk-based decisions to support business goals.

Duties

  • Work on a variety of legal, regulatory, ethical, and strategic issues.
  • Draft and negotiate complex client-facing agreements, including data privacy, intellectual property, and technology contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, ethical standards, and internal policies.
  • Assess business and legal risks in client contracts, proposing mitigation solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Advise firm partners on client agreements and commercial requests.
  • Develop and manage agreements, templates, external communications, and processes.
  • Oversee responses to client compliance and risk-related audits.
  • Improve the efficiency and scalability of commercial legal support and mentor junior attorneys on the team.
  • Collaborate with teams across departments, including Finance, Business Development, Information Security, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a top-tier law firm or in-house setting.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent client-facing and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Project management skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound judgment with a capacity to make quick, risk-based decisions.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and resourceful with a high degree of accountability.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications and Skills

  • Active Bar membership in good standing.
  • Proficiency in contract management and legal research tools.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
