Litigation Attorney - Employment Law (Hybrid)

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Oakland, CA, is looking to hire an experienced litigation attorney to join its Employment Practice Group. The successful candidate will handle a range of employment litigation matters, including class/collective actions, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour issues, and more. The firm offers a dynamic hybrid work schedule and the opportunity to grow within a fast-paced, supportive team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in various legal forums, including courts, arbitrations, and mediations, in matters such as class/collective actions, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wage and hour disputes
  • Defend clients in Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) matters
  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests, and responses
  • Prepare and argue motions before courts
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Provide advice and counsel on federal and state employment law issues, as necessary
  • Work directly with senior attorneys and clients to strategize and develop case approaches
  • Manage and direct junior attorneys and paralegals as required
  • Collaborate with team members in a hybrid work environment (2 days in-office)

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of litigation experience, preferably in employment law, class actions, and PAGA claims
  • Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing
  • Expertise in both federal and California state labor and employment laws
  • Experience in handling depositions, preparing legal motions, and representing clients in court
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently, including overseeing other attorneys and support staff
  • Strong strategic thinking and practical legal counsel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Highly detail-oriented with superior analytical and research capabilities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Member in good standing with the California State Bar
