Associate Attorney Criminal Defense

A law firm seeks a driven and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join a fast-growing criminal defense practice specializing in traffic and DUI cases in Sacramento, CA. This role is ideal for an attorney looking to gain courtroom experience or for a seasoned criminal defense lawyer seeking a fresh challenge within a collaborative and innovative team environment. Duties:

• Handle a wide range of auto-related infractions and criminal offenses, with a focus on traffic and DUI cases.
• Attend criminal and infraction hearings in court and represent clients in hearings with the DMV.
• Work closely with a dedicated legal assistant to ensure administrative tasks are completed, including managing the case calendar and facilitating client communications.
• Conduct initial consultations with potential clients and guide them through the legal process.
• Actively contribute to the firm's growth by generating new business and building a referral network to enhance visibility.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to address cases effectively and provide strategic legal solutions.
• Draft legal motions, and pleadings, and conduct legal research.
• Contribute to the overall goal of transforming courtroom culture through dynamic and impactful advocacy.

Requirements:

• Active California Bar License in good standing.
• At least 1 year of relevant criminal law experience (internships with public defenders or district attorneys are acceptable).
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to present complex legal information.
• High level of attention to detail in managing case files and legal documents.
• Ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with clients.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus, but not required.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
