A law firm in Houston, TX is seeking an EOIR Immigration Attorney to join their team. Reporting to the Managing Immigration Attorney, this role involves managing a caseload, representing clients in removal proceedings, preparing immigration applications, and collaborating with the Immigration Team to provide exceptional legal services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court, USCIS, and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Prepare defensive immigration applications, including Form I-589 (Asylum), Form 42A/B (Cancellation of Removal), Form I-485 (Adjustment of Status), Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) petitions, and Prosecutorial Discretion (PD) requests.
  • Review and prepare immigration applications for USCIS filings, such as Form I-130 (Family-Based Petitions), Form I-601A (Waivers), U-Visa petitions, and others.
  • Meet with clients to assess case needs, develop legal strategies, and provide analysis of potential outcomes.
  • Manage a team of paralegals to ensure high-quality customer service and efficient case management.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs and motions for various immigration cases.
  • Utilize case management software to track case progress and maintain accurate client records.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience practicing immigration law, with a focus on EOIR proceedings.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas or eligibility for admission by waiver.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and court personnel.
  • Proven track record of advancing legal cases and managing a diverse caseload.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, Detained Cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS filings.
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas or eligibility for admission by waiver.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
