Job Overview:

A well-established law firm in New Kent, VA is seeking a Litigation Attorney specializing in personal injury cases. The successful candidate will handle all phases of personal injury litigation, from case intake to resolution, with support from a skilled legal team. This role involves client representation, legal research, drafting legal documents, and negotiating settlements. The ideal candidate will have significant trial experience and a passion for helping clients secure justice and compensation.

Location:

  • New Kent, VA

Duties:

  • Represent personal injury clients in all phases of litigation, including pre-litigation, discovery, trial, and settlement.
  • Manage personal injury case files from start to finish.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, such as claims, motions, pleadings, subpoenas, and memorandums.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, expert witnesses, insurance adjusters, and medical providers.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients and review liens and expenses prior to disbursement.
  • Appear in court for hearings, trials, mediations, and depositions.
  • Meet all pre-litigation and litigation deadlines.
  • Provide additional duties as assigned to support the litigation team.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in personal injury litigation, with significant trial experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of personal injury law, wrongful death, and medical malpractice.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, courts, and insurance providers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Deductive reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in sensitive matters.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word) and other legal software.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Membership in the Virginia State Bar and a valid state license to practice law.
