Job Overview

Duties

  • Provide timely legal representation to clients while supervising and delegating tasks to legal staff
  • Maintain clear communication with clients throughout their cases
  • Develop and expand legal knowledge through research and continuing education
  • Prepare and execute attorney/client agreements, determining appropriate fees
  • Ensure proper handling and recording of client funds in compliance with Florida Bar rules
  • Record and bill time accurately for client matters and ensure collection of fees
  • Oversee the billing practices of legal staff and address any discrepancies

Requirements

  • Member in good standing with The Florida Bar
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of recent experience in elder law
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Technologically adept with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Active involvement in community support organizations is preferred
  • Background check and drug screening required with no negative legal issues

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Florida

Skills

  • Experience in estate planning, including drafting wills, trusts, and advance directives
  • Preferred experience in legal capacity counseling, guardianship, probate, and trust administration
  • Knowledge of public benefits advice, particularly regarding Florida Medicaid programs for seniors
