Job Overview: A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an Intake Attorney to join their real estate team. This role involves working closely with clients, particularly property owners and managers, on landlord-tenant matters and evaluating the viability of evictions. The Intake Attorney will assist clients throughout the unlawful detainer process, provide legal advice, and support office operations.

Duties:

  • Work with clients on landlord-tenant matters and assess the viability of evictions.
  • Guide clients step-by-step through the unlawful detainer process.
  • Provide legal advice through phone and email consultations.
  • Meet with and motivate staff to ensure efficient office procedures.
  • Conduct independent legal research.
  • Draft legal correspondence, including letters, notices, and memos.
  • Review and draft pleadings and other court filings as needed.
  • Assist with occasional court appearances and client presentations.
  • Collaborate with Partners to develop specializations in housing law.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active California Bar license.
  • General knowledge of civil litigation.
  • Strong client service skills.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds with varying communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • General overview of landlord-tenant principles.
  • Knowledge of the litigation process and California Civil Code.
  • Some experience or contact with the rental housing industry.
