A law firm located in Mercer Island, WA is seeking an Associate Attorney with a focus on collection and litigation matters. The successful candidate will possess strong written, analytical, and oral advocacy skills and will handle breach of contract and collection litigation from demand through judgment. This role requires attending court hearings, preparing and arguing Motions for Summary Judgment, and managing an assigned caseload to meet goals and client expectations. The Associate Attorney will also handle escalated and time-sensitive matters as needed and undertake other duties and special projects.

Duties:

  • Manage breach of contract and collection litigation matters from initial demand through final judgment.
  • Attend court hearings, including both telephonic and in-person appearances.
  • Prepare and argue Motions for Summary Judgment.
  • Handle an assigned caseload effectively, meeting goals and client expectations.
  • Address escalated and time-sensitive matters as needed.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required by the firm.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in the state of California; multi-jurisdictional admission in AZ, CA, NV, and TX is preferred.
  • Experience with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research skills, including the use of legal and non-legal sources.
  • Proficiency in software tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a large caseload effectively.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Conscientious with respect to work completion, deadlines, time management, and attendance.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in the state of California (multi-jurisdictional admission in AZ, CA, NV, and TX preferred).
