A law firm in Columbus, OH, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney capable of independently managing a diverse caseload. Ideally, the ideal candidate will bring substantial experience and a portable book of business to contribute to our firm's growth and success.

Duties:

  • Manage a complete caseload independently, including all aspects of case preparation, litigation, and client communication.
  • Conduct legal research and provide legal analysis for complex cases.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and appellate briefs.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations as necessary.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior associates on complex legal matters.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Ohio (preferably with admission in other relevant jurisdictions).
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience practicing law, preferably with a focus in one or more of the following areas: Appellate Advocacy, Banking & Financial Services, Business and Corporate Law, Construction Law, Creditors' Rights & Bankruptcy, Cybersecurity and Information Privacy, Education Law (Higher Education), Employee Benefits, Executive Compensation and ERISA, Environmental and Regulatory Law, Estate Planning, Trusts, Wills, FinTech, Gaming, Government Relations, Health Care, Industrial Hemp, Labor and Employment Law, Litigation, Medical Cannabis, Mergers and Acquisitions, Municipal Bonds and Public Finance, Oil & Gas, Public Procurement, Real Estate Law, Renewable and Alternative Energy, Tax Law, White Collar Defense and Investigations.
  • Strong understanding of legal principles and procedures relevant to the above practice areas.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to generate business (portable book of business preferred).
  • Experience in complex legal research and analysis.
  • Proficiency in legal software and research tools.

Education/Certifications:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Ohio (and other relevant jurisdictions as applicable).
